The Meaning of Yoga
Verbal Root – Yuj – To Join.
“Yujyate anena iti yogah” – which means, “That which joins is Yoga” .It is the joining of the individual self(Jivatma) with the universal Self (Paramatma). Patanjali Yoga is one of the six systems of Philosophy ( Sat Darshanas) in India.
Patanjali : “Yoga is a conscious process of gaining mastery over the mind “
Swami Vivekananda : “ It is a means of compressing ones evolution into single life or a few months or even a few hours of ones bodily existence”.
